Answer of FAQ

How do I get sound work in Debian?
  1. Please install the Debian-package "alsa_oss":

You can do this by commandline as follows:

    sudo apt-get install alsa_oss

  2. Load the following kernel-modules:

    • snd_pcm_oss
    • snd_mixer_oss

You can do this by commandline as follows:

    sudo modprobe snd_pcm_oss
    sudo modprobe snd_mixer_oss

You may also want to add them to /etc/modules , so they are loaded again when you reboot your computer

  3. Put your user into the group "audio" ( e.g. by editing /etc/group )

  4. Log out and log in again. ( this is necessary, such that your membership in group "audio" is activated. )

Training of users is expensive ...
        if you do it manually
again and again.

You can save a whole lot of money ...
... if you do it once and record it
so your users can watch it again and again
--> without you lifting a finger
--> and without spending any more money.
